Thankfulness & Worship
This last season of my life I’ve been overwhelmed by what God has been doing. By God’s grace I’ve been filled with thankfulness to what he’s done in my life and what he’s accomplished through me. My prayer life has been filled with thanking God for everything he’s done.
Recently, I came to the realization that so much of my praising God in my prayer time was focused on thanking him for what he’s done for me instead of praising him for who he is. It’s one thing to stand in worship with my arms held high praising him for all the blessings he’s given. It’s quite another to give him adoration because he alone is God and he alone is worthy. I’ve repented of this pattern and committed afresh to make adoration a key element of my prayer life. I challenge you to do the same.
Thanksgiving is a part of worship but not the entirety of it. It is right to express my thanksgiving to God but it should never replace worshipping God for who he is.
